[00:00:00] If you are a new coach or an overwhelmed coach and you feel like you're behind, confused or wondering if everyone else has a handbook or a secret that you just don't have, then this is the episode for you. Because what stops most new coaches is not a lack of talent. It's not a lack of certification.
And it's not even a lack of strategy. It's the way they think while they're building their business. And today I'm gonna walk you through seven mindset hacks that help new coaches move faster, stay steadier, and actually become the kind of coach who gets clients and makes a full-time income. Hi, I'm Chrissy and there have been parts of my business where things have worked quickly and parts where I felt like I was talking to a wall for months.
And I can tell you this, that the coaches who succeed are not the ones who feel confident all the time because that type of coach doesn't exist. The ones who succeed are the ones who know how to manage their mind when the confidence is missing. So this episode is practical. It's research backed and it's very real [00:01:00] life, and you're gonna wanna stay until the end because I'm gonna give you a simple seven day mindset reset that you can start immediately.
And as you listen, I want you to notice which one of these hits a nerve, because that's not a coincidence. And the one that's holding you back right now is the one that's gonna feel a little uncomfortable and triggering to you, but that's where the growth is. Okay, let's get into it. Hack number one is understanding that confidence is built from evidence.
And not personality. There is a belief that can very subtly sabotage you as a new coach, and it's the belief that I just need to feel more confident before I put myself out there. And this sounds reasonable, but it's completely backwards. Psychologist Albert Bandura's Research shows that confidence grows after successful action, not before it.
Your brain believes what it can prove. So if you are waiting to feel ready, you are waiting for something that your brain cannot generate on its own, and this is what it looks like in real life. You [00:02:00] delay posting until you feel clear. You rewrite your offer endlessly. You watch other coaches and think they're just more confident than me.
The truth is they're not. They just have more evidence. So what you need to do is you need to create a daily proof list. And a proof list is every day you write down, when you showed up, even though you didn't feel ready when you posted, even though it felt awkward or clumsy, when you sent the message that you didn't wanna send when you followed up with a client.
When you practiced selling your offer, your brain needs receipts and writing down all of the things that you have done, even when you didn't feel like it gives your brain the proof. You can do this. Hack number two is you need to stop relying on motivation.
You need to install decision rules instead because motivation is unreliable. Full stop. Research on implementation intentions show that people who pre decide their actions follow through far more [00:03:00] consistently than those who rely on willpower alone. And this is especially important for new coaches because you are doing things that your nervous system doesn't love yet, like visibility, asking, selling, or being seen and vulnerable.
So the mindset shift that you need to make is that you don't need to feel like it. You need a plan for when you don't feel like it. So here's what you do. You create if then rules for your most common stuck moments. For example, if I open Instagram, then I post before I scroll. If I feel the urge to redesign my website, then I send one outreach message first.
If I get nervous about selling, then I remind myself who this helps and I invite that one person. These mindset shifts remove decision fatigue, and then you stop negotiating with yourself. This hack alone can double consistency. But next we're gonna talk about what to do when the stress kicks in as it will hack.
Number three, stress means growth, not danger. Most of us, we interpret stress as a [00:04:00] warning sign. So we'll say to ourselves, I'm anxious, so something must be wrong, or I feel overwhelmed, so maybe I shouldn't do this. But research on stress mindset shows that when people interpret stress as energy instead of a threat, they perform better and recover faster.
So here's the reframe. Stress is not a sign that you're failing. Stress is a sign that you're expanding. Your body doesn't know the difference between danger, growth, excitement. All it knows is just energy. So what to do when stress hits? Say this out loud. This feels intense because it matters, and I can use this energy.
Then take one small action. Hit publish. Send the message. Record the video, invite the person because action metabolizes stress... now let's talk about the mindset shift that makes selling stop feeling so heavy. Hack number four, stop selling coaching. Start selling outcomes that your brain believes in. A lot of new coaches feel weird selling because their offer feels too vague, and your brain [00:05:00] hates vague.
So when you say, I help people feel better, or I help moms become happier, your nervous system doesn't feel grounded. So here's the mindset shift. You're not asking for money. You are offering a clear return on investment.
So what you need to do is you need to rewrite your offer using this sentence. I help name the specific person who is, name their specific struggle, get, and then name the measurable result that they will get by being in your program without. And the name a common fear. So again, I help specific person who is specific struggle get measurable result without common fear.
For example, if you're a divorce coach, your offer may be, I help women in the middle of divorce, calm their nervous system and make clear decisions without feeling stuck, in fear, confusion, or emotional whiplash. So with this sentence.
You know who you help, the result they'll get and what will happen in their life after they go through your program. Next, we're tackling [00:06:00] rejection because this is where most coaches emotionally tap out. So hack number five, rejection is information, not a verdict. New coaches often personalize everything.
Actually, most humans just do this, right? And coaches are humans, right? But what we need to do is we need to stop and pause and to retell the story. So often what happens is a no response becomes, oh, they don't like me. Or, a no sale becomes, I'm not good at this, but research on fear of failure shows that when people interpret rejection as identity based, they stop taking action.
But the entrepreneur mindset needs to be rejection answers one question only, and this is the question, was this the right offer at the right time for the right person? That's it. That's it. So here's what you need to do after a no, right? What did I try? What happened? What will I adjust going forward?
That's it. No [00:07:00] spiraling, no story. That's it. What did you learn? Then move on. So now let's fix the emotional whiplash that happens after you post or sell. Hack number six, master one. Emotion skill reappraisal. Cognitive reappraisal is the ability to change the meaning you give a situation, and this is huge for humans and for coaches.
So instead of, nobody liked my post, I'm invisible. Reframe it as this means my hook wasn't clear. Instead of they didn't reply, I must be annoying them. Try. Well, they just haven't seen my offer yet. So here's what you need to do. When your brain tells a story and you feel it, and you feel that negative emotion, pause and ask what else could be true?
And this keeps you in problem solving mode instead of self-judgment mode.
Okay, here's the last mindset hack. This is the one that determines whether you last long enough to win. Hack number seven, self-compassion creates stamina. Self-compassion is [00:08:00] not letting yourself off the hook. It's what keeps you from quitting when progress feels slow. Research on self compass.
Shows that it increases resilience and persistence, and that's what we need as business owners. And those two things, resilience and persistence, they matter more than raw talent. So the mindset shift that we need is kind first, direct, second. So what to do? Use this script for yourself. This is hard. I'm not broken.
I'm not a failure. What's the next step? That's it. Those of your sentences will keep you in the game. So here's your seven day mindset reset. Here's how to apply all of this. This week on day one. Write a proof list. Write down every time you showed up, even though you didn't feel ready.
Day two, write three if then rules, what action are you going to take and when, and be very specific. Day three. Stress as energy reframe plus one scary action. When stress hits, say this [00:09:00] out loud. This feels intense because it matters. I can use this energy and then take action. Day four, clarify your offer sentence.
Be specific about who you help, what their problem is that's keeping them up at night, and what transformation you offer. This will help you feel grounded when you're selling and marketing. Day five, rejection data ritual. Rewrite the story about what you tried and what you learned. And remember, it's not personal.
Day number six, reappraisal practice. When your brain gives you a dramatic story, pause and ask what else could be true. And then on day seven, have self-compassion and remind yourself of the next step. Be kind to yourself and say, this is hard. It doesn't mean that I'm broken or a failure. What's the next step?
If you do this. You'll feel steadier. Do this repeatedly and you'll feel unstoppable. If this episode helped you, and if you want help with the strategy side of building a coaching business that actually gets clients, you know [00:10:00] where to find me.
